Weeks 7 & 8
During weeks 7 and 8, we focused on learning how to use excel and applying data. This is a helpful way to work on making an organized platform to put any documentation for students, objectives, and content. Excel is a helpful resource to use that can help track the progress of students. This can be organized by graphs, charts, grids, or any other organized way that works for you.
Norm-reference tests VS Criterion-referenced tests
Norm-reference tests- results that are compared to others of a similar group
Criterion-referenced tests- results compared to a set standard and testers are ranked in relation to tested knowledge
Validity VS Reliability:
It is important to understand that collecting data in the classroom is very important for assessments. This can determine how students are understanding the content, what lessons or assessments students are doing well in, and whether content needs revisited, and this also allows teachers to see how students are doing individually. These graphs of individual students are also good to implement when having parent-teacher conferences so the families can see how their child is doing.
While working on practicing using excel in class, I got more familiar with how to find calculations and create data points into types of graphs. This is something that I will see myself using in my future classroom.
